Project Description

The Massachusetts E-Crash Manual for crash reporting information is an online resource for law enforcement and other users of transportation safety data. The goal is to provide detailed information about the crash reporting process from start to finish, by gathering relevant information into one place.

Police often say that crash reports are being completed just for insurance companies. However, the ultimate purpose of crash data is to gain a better understanding of the causes of crashes in order to guide crash prevention programming and engineering improvements.

Data Dictionary

The Data Dictionary provides four ways to search crash report fields, including:

  1. Search Box
  2. A to Z
  3. Categories (driver, vehicle, passenger, non-motorist, location)
  4. Most Problematic Fields/Categories
